Nasdaq Futures Opening Update as on 24 January 2018

U.S. stock futures are higher in pre-market trading for Wednesday, January 24. The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 6,978.25 for up with +0.18% percent or +12.50 point.The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,844.75 for up with +0.18% percent or +5.25 point.The Dow Futures are trading at 26,262.00 for up with +0.23% percent or +61.00 point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 23,940.78  with a loss of -0.76% percent or -183.37 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 32,958.69  for up with +0.09% percent or +27.99 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,559.47  for up with +0.37% percent or +12.96 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 36,161.64 for up with +0.06% percent or +21.66 point at 12:15 PM.The FTSE 100 are trading at 7,714.37  with a loss of -0.23% percent or  -17.46 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 13,562.25 for up with +0.02% percent or +2.65 point. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,532.68  with a loss of -0.05% percent or -2.57 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 402.82 with 0.00% percent or 0.00 point.

Wednesday’s Factors and Events

Over the weekend, the U.S. government shut down after a bill that would have kept it funded was voted down in the Senate. This marked the first U.S. government shutdown since 2013.

Shutdown concerns lingered on Wall Street on Wednesday; however, by the end of trade, major indexes hit all-time highs after it emerged the Senate had enough votes to stop the shutdown. They continued to post strong gains during Tuesday’s session.

 However, the positive sentiment on Wall Street was not echoed by international markets. On Wednesday, Asia-Pacific markets closed mixed while European stocks were under pressure in morning trade.

Tuesday’s Activity

U.S. market were mixed on Tuesday. For the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 26,210.81 with a loss of -0.01% percent or -3.79 point. The S&P 500 closed at 2,839.13 for up with +0.22% percent or +6.16 point. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 7,460.29 for up with +0.71% percent or +52.26 point.
