Nasdaq Futures Opening Update as on 12 January 2018

U.S. stock futures are higher in pre-market trading for Friday, January 12.The Nasdaq Futures are trading at 6,736.25 for up with +0.14% percent or +8.75 point. The S&P 500 Futures are trading at 2,775.00 for up with +0.20% percent or +5.50 point.The Dow Futures are trading at 25,649.00 for up with +0.37% percent or +94.00 point.

In overnight trading in the Eastern Hemisphere, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 23,653.82 with a loss of -0.24% percent or -56.61 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 31,352.64  for up  with +0.75% percent or  +232.25 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,428.94 for up with +0.10% percent or +3.60 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 34,464.26  with a loss of -0.11% percent or -39.23 point at 12:15 PM.The FTSE 100 are trading at 7,775.57 with for up +0.16% percent or +12.63 point. Germany’s DAX are trading at 13,212.01 for up with +0.07% percent or  +9.11 point. France’s CAC 40 are trading at 5,492.45 for up with +0.07% percent or +3.91 point. The Stoxx Europe 600 are trading at 0.03%  for up with +0.12 percent or  +0.15 point.

Friday’s Factors and Events

NASDAQ has reported mixed volumes for fourth-quarter 2017. While U.S. equity options volume improved 12.1% year over year to 399 million contracts, revenues per contract were 14 cents and declined 18.8% on a year-over-year basis. Market share rose to 41.5% from 39.2% in the year-ago quarter

Under its cash equities, Nasdaq’s U.S. matched equity volume in the third quarter totaled 72.7 billion shares, down 4.8% from the prior-year quarter. While the European equity volume expanded 18.4% year over year to $238 billion. Again, the U.S. Fixed income volume in the third quarter contracted 26.3% year over year to $4 billion. While the European fixed income volume was 8.3 million contracts, up 40.7% year over year.

Thursday’s Activity

U.S. market were higher on Thursday. For the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 25,574.73 for up  with  +0.81% percent or +205.60 point. The S&P 500 closed at 2,767.56  for up with +0.70% percent or  +19.33 point. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 7,211.78  for up with +0.81% percent or  +58.21 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,586.79  for up with  +1.73% percent or  +26.99 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 965.61  for up with +1.82%  percent or +17.28 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 22.74  for up with +1.43% percent or +0.32 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,225.82  for up with +0.65% percent or  +7.87 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,637.38 for up  with  +0.83%percent or +13.42 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,533.06 for up  with  +0.75% percent or +11.46 point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 25,574.73  for up  with +0.81% percent or +205.60 point.
