U.S. stock futures hgher in pre-market trading for Monday, July 16.The Nasdaq Futures is trading at 7,409.25 up with +0.22% percent or +16.25 point.The Dow Futures is trading at 25,052.00 up with +0.19% percent or +48.00 point.The S&P 500 Futures is trading at 2,805.50 up with +0.08% percent or +2.25 point.

Monday’s Factors and Events

the largest U.S. bank in terms of assets, was the first big bank to report its second-quarter earnings on Friday morning, and it did not disappoint. The bank surpassed earnings estimates and posted a massive surprise in trading revenue. Here’s a rundown of the numbers, and why JPMorgan Chase looks like the winner of earnings season — so far.

To be fair, some of the bank’s earnings growth was due to the lower corporate tax rate that came with the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act , but the bank’s revenue also grew by 6% to $28.4 billion. In other words, it didn’t post impressive earnings just because of tax reform — the business is generating more money as well.
