Nasdaq Futures

Stock futures indicate a mixed opening for major indexes on Tuesday as investors process a series of earnings reports and shift their focus to the midterm elections. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average experienced a decline of 0.6% recently, whereas S&P 500 futures saw a slight decrease of 0.1%. In contrast, futures for the tech-heavy Nasdaq recorded an increase of 0.4%. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite have experienced declines in each of the past three sessions, driven by a sell-off in technology stocks, which has been partly attributed to disappointing earnings reports.

This morning, shares of Dow component Apple were down 4% after the tech giant reported better-than-expected quarterly numbers but pointed to weakening margins. Palantir shares were down 7% ahead of the opening bell even as the data analytics software maker topped Wall Street estimates with its results and issued a rosy forecast. Chip stocks are experiencing a rebound this morning following significant losses, as investors anticipate the quarterly results from Advanced Micro Devices, which are set to be released after the market closes.

AMD shares, having experienced a decline of nearly 20% over the past three sessions, saw an increase of 3% in recent premarket trading. Intel shares were up 4% this morning, following a decline of 37% during their three-day slump. Nvidia and Broadcom were each up roughly 2% recently. Meanwhile, WTI crude oil futures experienced an increase of 0.9%, reaching $97.30 per barrel in recent trading. This follows a significant decline of 8% yesterday, driven by optimism regarding the potential for the U.S. to pursue a diplomatic resolution to the Iran conflict instead of initiating further military actions post-midterms.

Gold futures experienced a decline of 1.1%, settling at $3,925 per ounce, as they retraced toward the levels observed last Friday, when the price of the precious metal reached its lowest point since September of the previous year. Bitcoin was maintaining a stable position at $77,300. The yield on the 10-year Treasury, a key determinant of interest rates for various consumer loans, increased to 4.94% from 4.91% at the previous day’s close.
