Friday’s Factors and Events

This morning, the newest component company of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA), released earnings for the third quarter of their financial year. I’m sure many of those observers were puzzled after the release, not by the numbers themselves but by the market reaction.

WBA beat on both the top and bottom lines, but the stock looks like it will open the day significantly lower than yesterday’s close. The drop started in reaction to earnings, but then really gained ground with the announcement that Amazon (AMZN) was buying the online pharmacy PillPack.
