U.S. stock index futures moderated their gains on Friday as investors assessed the consumer inflation report for August. A Labour Department report indicated that the Consumer Price Index increased by 3.4% year-over-year last month, aligning with projections. On a monthly basis, it increased by 0.4%, aligning with forecasts.
Excluding the more volatile food and energy components, the core Consumer Price Index recorded an annual increase of 2.4% in August, aligning with economists’ expectations. It registered a 0.3% increase on a monthly basis, surpassing the anticipated 0.2% rise.
Dow E-minis increased by 347 points, representing a rise of 0.67%. S&P 500 E-minis saw an uptick of 46 points, equivalent to 0.61%. Meanwhile, Nasdaq 100 E-minis rose by 213 points, marking a gain of 0.73%.
